Control devices required for meeting ASHRAE 55

Dear Leeduser.com members. We have a question regarding whether we need these controls for meeting LEED credits under v2009 CS version. - Radiator heating system. Valves are automatically controlled to room temperature. Questions: Do we need any heating control? Is it enough to have local valve control devices? Thank you for your reply. BR, Mindaugas

Local controls like hand valves typically would not comply with meeting ASHRAE 55, but it has been a while since I had dived deep into the standard. In general, the goal of this credit is to show that the systems were designed to meet and control to provide comfort to the occupants in all design conditions. If heating is required to meet those conditions, then some sort of automatic control would be required.
