ND-Plan-v4 SLLc1:Preferred locations

Option 2. Connectivity

I want to make sure I understand this correctly. This second option says "within the project and within 1/2 mile of the project boundary" - does this mean that from the project boundary line, I draw 1/2 mile boundary around my project boundary and count all the intersections within this 'new' boundary? I calculate the 'new' boundary area and divide the number of intersections by the 'new' boundary?! Also, our project boundary is surrounded by a river on 3 sides and a 2 acre park, the reference guide mentions that water bodies and parks larger than 1/2 acre need to be excluded of the area. Do I need to deduct the length of the river from the 1/2 mile? What about the park?

Sarah, first you draw a connectivity boundary that surrounds the project boundary using a 1/2-mile buffer or distance from the project boundary. Second, sum the eligible intersections inside the project and within the 1/2-mile buffer. Third, sum the square miles in the project and 1/2-mile buffer, then subtract from that sum the sq miles covered by the river and large parks, giving a net sq mileage. And fourth, divide the total eligible intersections by the net sq mileage to get the project's connectivity result. Eliot
