Dear all,
we are in the case that it is not possibile to provide a rainwater tank on site so we are exploring the possibility to use a “local harvesting” system. Basically it consists in providing an “absorbent” substrate (instead of for example the normal soil) in order to capture the water locally, under the roots.
Do you think this strategy could contribute to the compliance of the WEc1 credit and SSc6.1?
Manufacturer is able to provide the water absorbtion capability of the material so, in order to demonstrate WEc1credit compliance, the water absorbed by the substrates will be calculated based on the rainwater available (during July) and then deducted from the design case water use (during July). Do you think this compliance path is acceptable?
Thank you in advance.

Yes, if you can back it up with real documentation, it doesn't sound in principle any different than catchment in a cistern.
