Where are the guidelines on how to do this takeoff? Because parking is connected by vehicle circulation spaces as well is it correct to just use the area of the actual parking spaces?

Hi Deirdre, I don't think the PIf2 form requires the square footage of the parking area. You only need to include the total number of spaces that are being provided within the LEED boundary. But if you were to provide the total area of parking, I would assume you would need to include all circulation spaces like driveways and ramps.

Deirdre—Are you asking this question because you are trying to calculate “Total gross square footage / gross floor area” to enter into the second field on the PIf2 form?
By definition, Gross Floor Area “excludes floor area dedicated to the parking and circulation of motor vehicles.” Therefore, you exclude both from the area calculation.
Measure floor area from the exterior faces of exterior walls OR from the centerline of walls separating buildings, OR (for LEED CI certifying spaces) from the centerline of walls separating spaces; and besides parking, exclude exterior covered walkways, porches, terraces or steps, roof overhangs, and similar features.
