We are working on a project where we will be demolitioning an existing parking lot (asphalt) and existing buildings to build our new project. The new project will be using white concrete for all hard surfaces. The team is curious if there is a way to capitalize on the reduction in heat island from existing to new? My quick research appears to show that SSc7.1 is only concerned with how the new conditions will function and not what the old were. Is there a way to achieve Exemplary Performance or a separate ID credit by documenting this change?

Lauren, interesting question, but I'm not aware of a way to earn LEED points for "comeback site of the year." ;)Basically the LEED credits as you say assess your current site, as you point out. In this case, changing land use is a great opportunity to capitalize on a number of SS credits, and there may be an RP credit to earn as well, so I would look more to synergies in this case than to ID.
