We are in the process of certifying a project that has completed construction. We received a clarification from our LEED Review team requesting to update the LEED project boundary. I have a question about how much of the existing site we can include in our project boundary. Can we include the entire site, or are we limited to only the areas in which we have made improvements, i.e. modifications to parking lots? There are a couple of stand alone buildings for equipment storage that were part of the renovation project. Can we include those buildings in the LEED certification, or can we only include the main renovation which is connected to the existing building.

Nicholas, your LEED project boundary can include existing site areas that were not modified if those areas are associated with your project building (for example undisturbed wooded areas located within your property boundary should be included). The storage buildings can be included in your boundary, but would not be included in the documentation for the EQ credits (assuming they are unoccupied storage), and would likely only be included in the documentation for the MR credits if they are new construction or renovated. Check out the MPR 3 forum for more information, specifically the section discussing "Project boundaries that include other buildings".
