Would a product that is recognized by the USDA BioPreferred program contribute to the 60% threshold for on-going purchases of environmentally preferable products? USDA requires testing to ASTM 6866, so I have documentation of over 90% biobased content. However, the product in question does not have SAN Sustainable Ag Standard verification. Is SAN verification required in this instance? Thanks for your help!

Sarah, I don't think this would suffice. The BioPreferred program and ASTM 6866 both recognize biobased content. They don't indicate anything about responsible sourcing of that content. LEED v4 has upped the ante by calling for SAN or other certifications to indicate sustainable sourcing.

Thanks, Tristan. I appreciate your feedback. I see the same credit says paper and wood products can contribute to the threshold if they are certified by FSC or a USGBC-approved equivalent. Do you know if any other certifications have been approved by the USGBC?

Sarah, there have not been any other certifications approved. That language is kind of a placeholder for future revisions to LEED.
