Greetings,
I'm in a process to start modeling a big Data center. Reading however the reference guide of LEEDv4 about this topic, there are some explanations that sound kind of vague to me.
It sais that a minimum of three modelas are to be made - two Proposed (model 1 and model 2) and one ASHRAE (Baseline, model 3).
The point is that I can't understand what practically is the difference between Full IT loading (model 1) and Initial IT loading (model 2). Is it possible to receive a kind of examplewise explanation, because as this is for a new construction, which still doesn't exist, the only info is the one from the design project.
Your assistance is higly appreciated.
Thanks,
Vassil

As I understand the issue most data centers are not fully built out on day one. Capacity gets added over time up to the full capacity of the center. So full load is the fully built out capacity of the center and the initial load is what will be installed right after it opens.

Thanks for the answer.
I'll have a meeting with the the owners rep.next week and I'll place this question.
However is there a period to be taken in consideration for the analysis - say within the first year of operation or something like this. I mean something to be use as a boundary for model 2.
Thanks

I would think that the initial loading would be the situation once the facility becomes operational. Certainly within the first year but a year is a long time in the IT world and as I understand it capacity gets added all the time.

Thanks again for the reply.
If I understand correctly how to run model 2, it would be like this:
Initial IT loading - 30 % of the full IT loading. The rest of the systems have to be simulated as they are running on their partial load parameters, enough to cover this 30% IT loading. Am I on the right track.
Thanks.
