Paper products - FSC or USGBC approved equivalent

What are USGBC approved equivalents for paper products? Is SFI?

Phyllis, there are no approved equivalents yet. SFI is definitely not approved—USGBC membership has opposed use of SFI in LEED for quite a while, and that has not changed recently.

Hi, I would like to know if there's an update on the SFI Certificate. Does the USGBC still opposes the use of SFI? I found a document in their webpage, from 2016, claiming USGBC now does but I can't find anything in the USGBC webpage to back-it up. Thanks

Hi Roberto, the Legal Wood Pilot Credit (https://www.usgbc.org/node/10146834) does appear to allow SFI products. It's not obvious in the credit language but if you download the associated calculator (from the Resources tab, or at this direct link https://www.usgbc.org/resources/legal-wood-pilot-acp-calculator) you can see SFI is included in the drop-down menu options. You'd have to adopt the full Pilot Credit, though, to take advantage of SFI products, so I think it'd be good to thoroughly review what else is entailed in the Pilot Credit to make sure you can still achieve the point.
