Schools-2009 WEp1:Water Use Reduction—20% Reduction

Residential Type Sinks in Middle School Classroom

Hi, We are working on a middle school that has 2, Home Economics classrooms with residential kitchen-style fixtures; I would assume these should be included within my calculation? By default, students have 0 uses per day for these fixtures but I would assume that I need to un-check default and perform a calculation accordingly. Has anyone come across this for a middle or highschool? Thank You!

Hi Sara, Not sure if you’ve already proceeded with your formal project review since you posted this inquiry (and if so, would appreciate your feedback here on the outcome), but in LEED for Schools projects you should be able to include classroom sinks in your calculations, provided the flow fixtures installed have a similar usage pattern and are of a similar fixture type as for those used in residential kitchens (e.g. home economics class) and restrooms (e.g. classroom handwash sinks). I would provide a narrative explaining your methodology and rationale for including this fixture.
