We are looking at a project in which we are constructing an addition to a registered historic structure. SF of old/new is about 50/50. If we are meeting the requirements of Option 1 for the existing building, do we get all 5 points? There is nothing stated about the percentage of the project that the historic resource represents.

Peter, this qualifies. There is nothing in the credit requirements about square footage, as long as you are maintaining the entire existing building.

Hi there, I have a follow up question for a similar project. If the existing, historic building being maintained is quite large, does the entire structure need to be included in the LEED Project Boundary for this credit to be achieved? The addition will only impact one portion of the historic building (a baseball stadium), so we would not include the entire existing structure in our boundary.

We have establish LEED boundaries at the edge of additions, not unlike a CI tenant separation. For new construction, this can be quite simple, especially if systems and services are separated. Under current guidelines, you'll probably have to separately meter, or at least sub-meter, the addition. No need to include all of the existing building if you are not involved in any work there.
