Utility Trenches Part of Project Boundary?

We're certifying a school addition and the site area associated is fairly straight forward except we have both power and sanitary utility connections that finger out beyond what would be a reasonable contiguous area. Is there an exception excluding utility service trenching from Project Boundary?

Larry, this would be a good question for our MPR3 forum.

Hello Larry, We have a similar situation for one of our projects. Our project sites within a campus, and the LEED boundary should be straight forward, except we have a water main connection that fingers out from the site. If we include this area within our boundary it would make it difficult for future projects to define their boundary as there is an areas cutting across their site. Have you received any confirmation on if this area can be excluded?
