HVAC system changed after certification completed

Our project (LEED NC 2009 Gold) was certified 3 years ago. Now the new landlord would like to add humidification to AHU. Is the certification affected? Can you name a few sources? Thanks Johannes

Johannes, LEED-NC is a Design and Construction rating system. All sorts of things can happen on an as-built building within months, let alone years, of certification. The LEED-NC certification is not affected. What is ideal is to do LEED-EBOM certification as a continuous improvement program. LEED-EBOM takes changes like that into account.

Thanks Tristan! That is on the one hand clear to me, on the other hand if you follow the discussion that LEED certified buildings perform worse than uncertified building some obvious green washing happens. - "Design and construct sustainable and after it is certified add "energy wasting comfort"...."

A lot of people want to engage with LEED through the design and construction process but don't control how the building is operated. Likewise, people who run buildings want to do the right thing. The owner should create a clear path from sustainable design through construction and operation, and all along there are LEED tools that can help with this. There is a logical point at which there is a hand-off in responsibility, is all there is to it.
