This may be an odd question:
Does anyone know what might happen if our project, NC 2.2 registered before 2009, submits for design review this year, then submits for construction review after the 2015 close out date for NC 2.2 projects. We're still in design now. Construction will begin in the Fall, we think. It may be completed within a year, but that depends on funding. It is likely that the project won't be completed before June 2015. So what happens then?

John, have you seen a sunset date announced for NC v2.2? I have not, and just came up empty on the USGBC and GBCI websites. Following their general policy it would be in June 2015, but that's not a sure thing.Anyway, worst case you would have to register for LEED 2009 or v4 and start your documentation over. I would suggest contacting GBCI directly now and inquiring about this so that you can start planning. Please post back here what you learn.

Thanks. Yes, it's in the LEED Policy Manual. So, I'll ask.

According to the published guidance I found: you need to submit for construction review (defined as submitting at least 1 credit) by June 27th (can't remember which) 2015

Split Review (Separate Design and Construction Reviews): For project teams that selected the Split Design & Construction review method of applying for LEED Certification, applications for Preliminary Design Review must be submitted on or before the rating system sunset date for the rating system under which that the project is registered. In addition, applications for Preliminary Construction Review must be submitted no later than eighteen (18) months after the delivery of the Final Design Review, or no later than the rating system Sunset Date, whichever occurs later. If a project’s application for either Preliminary Design Review or Preliminary Construction Review is not submitted in accordance with these terms, the corresponding project registration will be cancelled and such project is no longer eligible for certification under the version of the rating system for which it is registered. No discounts, refunds, or fee waivers will be issued.

Thanks. Yes, I just got off the phone with GBCI. It seems, given this project, we need to move from 2.2 to 2009. Unfortunately, our engineers have been using the 2.2 templates and guidelines. I would hate to force them to do more work, given the budget limitations of this municipal project. I hope the work simply slides over from 2.2 to 2009.
