My client is a manufacturing facility of Electrical Cables located outside the US. The factory was built in 2010 and stated operations since then. The facility includes the main manufacturing building in which all the industrial processes are running. Attached to this, there is an administrative building + a storage building. The factory is totally independent of the electrical grid. The client desires to get the facility certified under LEED.
My questions:
1. Is this case applicable to LEED EBOM?
2. If not, can we apply to LEED EBOM for the administrative building only?
Appreciate your response.

Diaa,
1. The whole complex can go EB. (Hopefully you have metering and sub-metering in place)
2. The admin 'MIGHT' be able to go EB on it's own, but there are specific rules about that. Consult the MPR's and if needed, talk direct with the GBCI...send a drawing and photos helps

Thanks Mr. Giles for the reply.
One more thing i would appreciate your response for. Do you have any idea about the time required to complete the certification process an get the final certificat, taking into consideration that the project is outside the US?
Thanks in advance.

Diaa. Using LEED EB here's the 'standard timeline we use'. 1 month, reviewing the building, checking compliance with MPR's, and Prerequisites, setting the credit list out, and getting programs and policies agreed and in place. 3 month performance period. 2 weeks completing paperwork, 2 weeks with GBCI (1st round), 2 weeks answering all GBCI questions, final 1 to 2 weeks with GBCI. Total elapsed time 6 months....now before everyone else has a heart attack...that's based on being able to quantify energy consumption (Energy Star equivalent), IEQp1 being able to be achieved, and nothing that the prereqs turn up that requires physical work...restroom upgrades etc. If asked for a ballpark...then use 9 months as a starting point.
