Hi- I don't see why not. The prerequisite does not address the required exhaust, but just the required outdoor air supply (whether natural or mechanical).

I've contacted both gbci and ASHRAE on this and they both confirmed that section 5.1 does not substitute exhaust requirements. Section 5.1 substitutes OA supply only.

You may find Andrew Mitchell, P.E.'s response from a question about kitchen exhaust below helpful: "per LEED CIR 10248, any mechanically ventilated kitchen must meet the exhaust requirements of ASHRAE 62.1 Table 6-4 (exhausted to the outside). Naturally ventilated kitchens do not require exhaust tot he outdoors. Please see the ruling language here: http://www.usgbc.org/leed-interpretations?keys=10248"

Also, I suppose I should qualify my statement above that "the prerequisite does not address the required exhaust". Actually, while the LEED credit form does not require specific exhaust data or calculations, mechanically ventilated spaces do have to comply with ASHRAE 62.1-2007 section 6, which includes required exhaust.
