In 7.4.4.2 Temperature maintenance controls recirculating hot-water systems shall be equipped with automtatic time switches or other controls that can be set to switch off the usage temperature maintenance system during extended periods when hot water is not required.
How shall I interpret extended period? It there any definition? Is a weekend an extended period? The school holidays?
If we in our retail project doesn´t have an extended perdiods do we stil need do install the control system?

I am not aware of a specific definition of extended period. If the facility runs 24/7 then I would agree the you do not have any extended periods. If the facility closes each day and is unoccupied overnight I would consider that an extended period. The idea is to not be circulating hot water when you don't need to.
