Waste to energy conversion

I am trying to select a waste management company. The low bidding company says they have done several leed projects with local contractors. One thing that concerns me with the sample report they sent me is that over %50 of there landfill diversion is classified as being "recycled through waste to energy conversion." That to me will not count as diverting from landfill or incineration.They assure me they have had no problems getting credit for all their diversions on any of their projects. Your thoughts?

Jesse, I think you are correct that this should not get credit under LEED.
