Greetings.
I am working on a Commercial interior project pursuing the EAP2, and I chose the section 11 as an alternative to prescriptive approach, but, i am a little bit confused about how to simulate the envelope (u factor, shading coefficient..) in Energy Cost Budget (ECB) and Design Energy Cost (DEC). In table 11.3.1#5 say that the ECB shall be modeled with the U factor from section 5.5 and SHGC shall be the maximum allowed for the climate and orientation. In the Credit 1.3, table 2#5 it says that existing building envelope must be used. Then I do not know how to simulate it in the ECB, besides a film will be added to the window glass in the commercial interior space in order to reduce the vertical fenestration shading coefficient.
Thanks for your advice

For a CI project it makes sense to model the existing building envelope in both models since it is existing and the exception in 11.3.1#5 applies.
If the window film is in the scope of work then model the existing windows in the Baseline and the same windows with the film in the Proposed.

Thanks Marcus. just an additional question. adding a film to the windows could be consider as an addition and apply to the exception in 11.3.1#5? since the only change in the existing fenestration is the film.
just to make sure, in order to model the same envelope in the ECB and DEC in a commercial interior, the scope of the project must not included changes in the existing façade?
Thanks in advance.

The addition they are referring to is a building addition not adding a film to an existing building. See 4.2.1.2 referenced in the exception to 11.3.1#5.

Thanks a lot Marcus is very usefull your answer. I have a last question, I'm using the simulation method to met the prerequisite, but when I enter to the form of EAP2 in leedonline I don't see where introduce the simulation outputs. Could you tell me what Should I fill if I am working with simulation path?
Thanks again for your advice.

I don't see it either. So check the special circumstances box at the bottom of the form. Write a brief narrative in the box that appears. Then upload your modeling results. Provide information similar to what you would provide for a BD+C Appendix G submission.
