Football field is a countable area?

I dont know if anybody had asked this before, but does the football field counts in the sum of the total landscape area of a football arena? We are working on a project that all the landscape area, excluding the playing field, will be efficient with no irrigation needs. However, as known, the playing field requires daily irrigation, and, in my point of view, it should be classified under a exception because the playing field is the purpose of the arena. (The same is aplied to the ilumination that is an exception for Ashrae 90.1 for sports events)
