I have a hotel building with 150 keys aiming for LEED Silver..can anybody advise if all the guest rooms shall have automatic lighting shut-off controls (occupancy sensors, key/card controlled etc). Is LEED 2009 specifically asking for mandatory AUTOMATIC controls inside hotel rooms?
Will it be acceptable if I provide a manual master switch at entry that can be switched on/off by the occupants?

My interpretation of Section 9.4.1.4(c) is that a manual control device would be sufficient to comply with this mandatory provision. Automatic controls are not required in this application but could probably be used to show energy savings.

Thanks Marcus..
So if I provide manual master control switch at each guest room entry, would it also suffice the requirements of Section 9.4.1.1 - Automatic Lighting Shutoff.? This is the confusion for our designers now.

A manual control would not apply to 9.4.1.1 but in my opinion exceptions (a) and possibly (c) both apply to a hotel room. So those spaces do not have to comply.
