For a small CI project we are undertaking renovation of the ceiling/roof and a small portion of the exterior wall. In both cases the specific work will comply with EAp2, but we are wondering whether this modification will trigger EAp2 requirements for the entire envelope, namely (1) the remaining exterior wall not planned for renovation, and (2) the windows. Thank you in advance for your advice.

Technically, it should not, as your scope of work is presumably specific to the ceiling/roof and the portion of the exterior wall. However, if the reviewer can deem the project as being a "major renovation" as classified under ASHRAE, they could theoretically require the entire envelope to meet the EAp2 requirements.
