Dear Users,
we have to certify a office bulding - new built - which is already on site.
The structural works ( basement and parts of the first floor) has started
already. Our client wants to certify the building though planning stage has already finished and signed off by the authorities.
We urgently need to know if its possible to certify the building anyhow. The building is in switzerland which has a very high standard in construction and planing. But as they just decided to certify the building now they don´t implemented an erosion and sedimention plan in the design phase and in the beginning of the construction phase. But they implement the local codes about construction activity pollution prevention. So is it still possible to start with the erosion and sedimentation plan now to achieve the Prerequisite SS1?
It would be fantastic if anybody can send me any information or experiences on this issue.
Many thanks in advance
Tatjana

Tatjana,
It is still possible as long as the local codes are as stringent as the EPA’s Construction General Permit (CGP). We have had a number of projects in the US that were in a similar situation but local code was as stringent as the EPA code, so we were good to go.
There is a link to the CGP in the Resources section of this credit page. Look into that and see if you are meeting those standards. If you are, then your project is good to go and you will want to make sure that the plan includes prevention of topsoil loss, sedimentation in receiving streams, and air pollution by particulate matter (as required by LEED). If your local code is not as stringent as the EPA’s then you project may not be able to be certified, as this is a prerequisite. You may also want to look into the ESC template provided in the Documentation Toolkit on LEEDuser to see if your project is meeting those strategies.
Good luck!
Shannon
