Cost Overview
For this credit, projects must designate 5% of all parking spaces as preferred parking for “green vehicles,” which must achieve a minimum green score of 45 according to the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE).
Costs for designating preferred parking spaces with signage are minimal, although operating revenue could theoretically be affected in some cases.
Additionally, Option 1 requires installation of electrical vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) in 2% of all parking spaces used by the project. Or, projects can pursue Option 2 and install liquid or gas alternative fuel fueling facilities or a battery switching station capable of refueling a number of vehicles per day equal to at least 2% of all parking spaces. These strategies have greater costs.
The credit requirements are based on providing fueling stations as a percentage of overall parking, so, by also pursuing LTc7: Reducing Parking Footprint, you could reduce the cost of this credit.
