Hi All,
We are working on a new construction project in a remote location with no access to recycling facilities. We came up with a plan for donating our wood waste to the local first nations band, but I'm not sure what documentation the CaGBC/USGBC will need in terms of 'end use' and load tracking documentation. Can we just get a statement from the band saying they are accepting a donation from us and what the weight of the material is, or do we need more information on what exactly they are doing with it? They may not know what they will be using it for just yet.
Thanks!

Hi Jacinta ~ I think it is great that you were able to identify a plan for donating wood waste. Suppling a clean wood stream and accurate weight/volume calculations from the loads is a great start. Getting a letter or other supporting document with a report of this information as well as the facility that is being taken it is also important. Even if the company doesn't know what they will utilize the wood for yet, can they identify how they will process it, store it, prepare it for reuse/recycling, etc? I would start with this information to support your total waste diversion calculations.

Thanks for the advice Tiffany! I think that is exactly what we'll have to do. Get as much information as we can, maybe write a short narrative if necessary.
