NC-2009 WEp1:Water Use Reduction—20% Reduction

WEp1 Retail NC – Process Water

Hi, I need help with my first process water calculation. On LEED Online: What does “ADO” mean? Could it be “Annual Days of Operation” maybe? And if you enter that you have water cooled ice machines then you get this sentence: “Project has installed NO once through water cooled ice machines”. In my Swedish ears that is not a sentence. What does it mean? Please give us answers!

Hi Maria, I have worked on one of these and was also very frustrated with the lack of information about what these newly incorporated terms mean. Yes, it is my understanding that ADO means annual days of operation. With respect to the "once through" sentence, I believe they mean you will be penalized for a water cooled machine that only uses the cooling water once and doesn't recirculate it somehow for reuse. FYI, my commercial equipment was amazing water efficient at 71% reduction, but the constraint of the staff fixtures at only 30% reduction dictating the overall percentage of achievement really robbed us of points. Particularly when you consider how much water the equipment uses vs. the water fixtures. Good luck.
