Hello Friends,
With my "AIA 2030 Commitment Working Group" hat on, one of the efforts I have undertaken is a campaign to create a "pull" in the market, rather than (only) the sweaty "push" we all take on every day, trying to build a better world.
I believe that if we can help clients (building owners) articulate clearer expectations for the performance of the design teams they hire AND the project outcomes they want - all of us here on Gurus will have an easier time. In the 2030 WG, we have been spending most of our energy trying to get more firms to sign on and report annually, which is great. However, if more owners include a preference (or requirement) for 2030 Signatory firms in their RFQ/RFPs, we wouldn't have to push so hard on the firms! They would respond to the "client demand". Therefore, that's where I want to put more effort this year - let's create more PULL and less push!
I would love to collaborate with anyone on this thread who is interested moving forward!
In the meantime, I've put together a webinar which will be presented May 13 at 1pm EST and I would grately appreciate it if you could recommend this to your clients/building owners, as you feel comfortable.
Building Owner’s Toolkit: How to Get the Most from Your Design Teams
The webinar outline FYI:
1. Getting your house in order (planning and budgeting, internal goal setting, standards, project implementation, continuous improvement, KPIs)
2. Hiring the right team: Credentials, Questions to ask in an interview and answers to look for
3. Managing the right team: process and critical-path decision making
4. Project turnover, post occupancy and feedback loops
5. Discussion
Thank you (and feel free to DM me if you want to work with me and some others on this "campaign" in general!!
