What do you do if you are constructing a horizontal expansion but you have no plumbing fixtures in the expansion? Can I treat it like a CI project in which the pre req would be N/A but I cannot achieve credit?

Neil, can you tell us a bit more about it? Specifically, I'm curious how you're able to certify an expansion rather than the whole building.

I'm curious as to the approach if this were not an expansion. What do you do if you are constructing a facility that has no domestic plumbing fixtures but meets all other MPR's and Pre Req's in v3 NC?

In LEED-CI, a project with no fixtures in its scope of work can be exempt from WEp1. I am guessing that this exemption could also be applied to other rating systems, but there is less precedent for it. I would check with GBCI. If anyone has experience with this, please post about it here!

I have submitted a question. I will post the response for the group when I receive it.

I received a response from GBCI on this issue. It also relates in part to another question (How to comply with no water in scope?) posted by someone else. Essentially, the path to compliance varies with each rating system - EBOM, CI, NC, etc. For my NC project, the response seems to be a bit "Sorry, but I can't answer that" and we'll have to cross that bridge later in the project.
This is my exact question:
CUSTOMER INQUIRY:
In LEED-CI, a project with no fixtures in its scope of work can be exempt from WEp1. I am guessing that this exemption could also be applied to other rating systems, but to my knowledge, there is no precedent.
I'm curious as to the approach if this new construction with no domestic plumbing fixtures but meets all other MPR's and Pre Req's in v3 NC.
And here is the language from the response:
Dear Tiombe,
Thank you for your technical customer service inquiry regarding LEED-NCv2009. In regards to WEp1, the strategy you describe would make sense as it is similar to the CI rating system. We suggest when submitting for review you include a narrative explaining that there are no applicable water fixtures in your space. Please note that in this forum we cannot approve project teams strategies or guarantee they will be accepted by the review team. Since this is a very unusual case we suggest you submit a CIR or a LEED Interpretation. For more information about CIRs ....
