Dear All,
I'm working on a project in the Middle East that is targeting LEED Silver and we're planning to have a concrete washing facility on site. I wonder about the correct way to dispose of liquid waste from the facility.
Is it proper to reuse the wastewater for dust control?
If not, please advise.

Hi Osman,
Section 2.3.3.4 of the 2012 EPA Construction General Permit (which LEED references) spells out some approved ways of handling concrete washout water.
The applicable section of the 2022 EPA CGP says a little more clearly, "Do not allow liquid wastes to be disposed of through infiltration or to otherwise be disposed of on the ground." so I don't think it would work for dust control. The goal is to keep contaminated liquids out of the groundwater.
Does anyone here have experience handling concrete washout waste in the Middle East? I am not as familiar with that climate, infrastructure, etc., so hopefully some others have advice for applying the CGP or local equivalent.
