Folks,
Is there any exception for the 2% and 3% voltage drop? We are working on a subway station and we were able to achieve 3,5% to the feeders and 3% to the to the branch circuits. Achieve 2% and 3% will increase construction cost significantly according to the electrical system designer. Is there any percentage allowance?
Thanks

There do not appear to be any exceptions to this mandatory provision in 90.1.

Hi Marcio,
This topic was explored by the EA TAG a few months ago. While they didn't feel that it was appropriate to make an overall exception to the requirements, they did decide on what they felt was a fair compromise.
From LI #10218:
"...the mandatory provision of ASHRAE 90.1-2007/2010 Section 8.4 will be met as long as the total voltage drop does not exceed 5%."
This may not be helpful to your situation, but you should be aware that it is out there.
Thanks
