NC-2009 MPR5:Must comply with minimum occupancy rates

Visitor Count - Dormitory

We received our preliminary design review comments back and were asked to include a daily average visitors number. Our average users value is 3, peak users value is 27, and the FTE value is 3. There are 228 residents total in the dormitory. We do not expect very many outside visitors other than the occasional other student and/or student family members as the building is primarily lodging. Without a previous precedent to judge by and a currently incomplete project, what is the best way to calculate a daily visitors number? None of the categories listed in Appendix 1 seem appropriate.

Anyone able to help out with this? We're trying to resubmit our changes soon! Thanks in advance!

Hi Todd, For a new construction project, these occupancy numbers should represent the design intent of the building. If the building was not designed for many visitors then you should represent that (rather than using a default number) and describe the rationale based on the program or general requirements of the building. Hope this helps!
