Hi,
We have a Distribution centre (Nothing Hazardous) of 1000m² with 10 people. The ventilation requirement by ASHRAE is Area- (1000*0.6)+ People (10*5) = 650 l/s. The local bylaw says it is around 4 l/s per person (No area is needed for ventilation) = 40 l/s. There is a huge difference in the ventilation requirement.
Can we design the ventilation requirement to comply with local law as ASHRAE's requirement is energy intensive? Or is there a special clause under ASHRAE in which we can use only the ventilation requirement of people?

No. You need to meet ASHRAE 62.1.

Hi G.J.,
Where is your project located? Projects in Europe may use Arbeitsstaettenrichtlinie ASR 5 as a local equivalent to ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2010, natural ventilation procedure.
