Hi All
We have metering set up for most of the end-uses that represent over 10% of total energy but for some equipment is it not cost effective or practical.
- Can we use calculated energy from EMS trends to satisfy the credit requirements? For example: the EMS can record Fan VFD parameter points (i.e. Amps) that through programming calculations are converted to fan kWh energy.
- Does 100% of all energy of an end-use category need to be metered? What if some small fraction is missed. eg. Cooling for a building with over 100 tons of cooling is an over 10% energy end-use ; will we miss the credit if we do not meter one ½ ton DX AC unit?
Thank you

1. I would think that you could justify this. Technically it is not an advanced meter and it requires some additional steps to determine energy use so I would look through the Reference Guide and the Interpretations to see if this has been addressed.
2. Put the DX unit on a separate meter in the model and it becomes a separate end use. Makes no sense to disqualify over such a small cooling use.

Thank you Marcus. I particularly like the "work around" answer to #2.
