Use of existing facilities - Cement Distribution Plant, Colombia

We are working in Colombia on a new 4,840sqft "dinning room facility" that will serve all users 24/7 of already existing administrative offices and truck drivers (this existing facilities are not certified). The existing buildings within the property and part of the same company, already have showers, locker rooms, cars and motorcycle parking lot, inclusive a grey water treatment plant. The question is, can we use those existing facilities to comply with LEED requirements? (Of course we have to check if we meet distance and quantity requirements.) Hope you can help me. Best regards!

Generally yes. You've referenced a lot of different credits in your question, so it might be best to re-post those to the appropriate credit for more details. For bike racks, they'll need to be within 200 yards of the building entrance. And there will need to be enough of them available to everyone using them at peak times (LEED or not) or else they will have to be labeled so they may only be used by this building's occupants/visitors. You'll want to show the calculations for 5% of all the building users that will be using the bike racks, no matter what building they come from, LEED registered or otherwise. From the sounds of this, you'll need to do this multiple times to show how many bike racks are available to the people coming to this building (but no need to double count them. Ex. Assume Building A's bike spaces are within 200 yards of the LEED Dining Room. If you have 100 people in Building A, they need 5 bike parking spots. If all of these people in Building A are going to eat in your LEED Dining Room, then they don't need more bike racks, because they already have them at their original building within 200 yards of the Dining Room. Assuming Bldg. B's bike spaces are too far away, they would need bike racks closer to the LEED Dining Room. If there are 6 bike spots at Building A, then one spot would be available for Building B's people to use for the LEED Dining Room. so you'll want to put together a matrix showing where the people are coming from and where they would be parking their bikes within 200 yds to make sure everyone is accounted for.) Showers could be a similar calculation, except they're only based on the FTEs, not all building users. So showers need to be provided for the people working at the LEED Dining Room, but not for everyone who comes to that building to eat.

Thank youfor your complete answer Michelle, this gives me better understanding. I'l re-post the question in the other corresponding credits. Regards!

Another question Michelle, How do we should calculate the total FTE for the project? - Only the FTE of our new building or we have to consider every body working at the facilites (because all of them will be users, but working in other buildings). Than you
