Living the Lifecycle: The Launch of Markit Zero
Thursday, July 28, 2022
3 - 4pm ET (12 - 1pm PT)
Description:
By 2025, the AEC Industry will be generating a total of 2.2 billion tons of C&D waste per year. This addiction to waste is destroying global supply chains and limiting your ability to provide the right materials on time and on budget. While we operate in a world where only 9% of the economy is circular, it’s calculated that the revenue tied to the conversion of the remaining 91% sits around $4.5 trillion. This session will review key take-aways from the Circular Economy for Dummies, where environmentalism acts as the platform for business, including how we can solve our waste issue through better design, high(er) rates of asset utilization and environmental regeneration. Join Kyle Ritchie as he outlines what he considers to be the future of our relationship with building materials, starting with the launch of Markit Zero; the first ever commercial building material zero-cycling platform, which Kyle has created with Ebay’s Ex-Director of Operations.
Presenters:
Kyle Ritchie, CannonDesign
Kyle Ritchie is a Greenbiz (2022) 30-under-30 recipient, the co-author of The Circular Economy for Dummies, Sustainable Design Lead for CannonDesign's Higher Ed & K-12 Markets, Adjunct Professor at the Boston Architectural College, and Founder of the Circular Economy Studio.
Eric Corey Freed, CannonDesign
Eric Corey Freed is an award-winning architect, author, and global speaker. As Senior Vice President of Sustainability for CannonDesign, he leads the healthcare, education, and commercial teams toward better and higher performing buildings for over 15 million square feet a year. His past roles include Vice President of the International Living Future Institute and Chief Community Officer of EcoDistricts, both nonprofits pushing innovative new paradigms for deep green buildings and communities. Eric is the author of 12 books, including "Green Building & Remodeling for Dummies.” In 2012, he was named one of the 25 "Best Green Architecture Firms" in the US, and one of the "Top 10 Most Influential Green Architects."
