All of the individual VOC compounds in all sampling locations have passed the LEED criteria. The issue is that the overall total concentration of TVOCs in 8 sample locations is higher than the 500 micrograms per cubic meter LEED criteria. Do both the overall and all individual compounds need to pass in order to achieve the credit? Should we retest the total VOCs or submit the data we have?
I found this wording in LEED V4.1 for this credit and am wondering if I can use this to justify not re-testing TVOCs: For Path 2 (VOC testing), the contaminant list has been revised to now consist of 12 VOCs (including formaldehyde) that need to be tested for and threshold met, however the credit no longer deems the TVOC limit to be a pass/fail criteria. For the revised credit, TVOC is intended to be used more as a screening metric to inform testing location as well as needs for a given project. However, projects will still need to report TVOC results and if exceeding a concentration level of 500 ug/m3, will need to investigate any potential sources of higher TVOC level and perform corrective actions as necessary

Hi Valerie,
LEED v4 requests for TVOCs with maximum concentration of 500 micrograms per cubic meter. Therefore, if your TVOC exceed the LEED v4 requirement, then you need to re-test until the TVOC meet the LEED v4 requirement to achieve this credit.
If you will use explanation in LEED v4.1, then you need to substitute this credit to LEED v4.1. You cannot select credit in LEED v4 and use explanation in LEED v4.1 at the same time.
