Turf grass species

The recommendation is to "minimize turf grass".  Is there a baseline turf grass species?  What if we use drought-tolerant, or warm or cool season grasses (depending on the project location) that require less irrigation? 

Has any experience achieving this credit with different types of turf grasses?

Deborah, a different credit, but have you explored the v4.1 language about turf grass for the Protect or Restore Habitat credit?  It now states "Native grasses may be used in conjunction with a variety (two or more) of native or adapted vegetation species." I would think that shift would help better justify your approach.
