Based on the results of this USGS Water Resources Investigation Report comparison between the two methodologies (http://water.usgs.gov/osw/pubs/WRIR00-4191.pdf), I'd say yes. That being said, as always, the final decision comes down to your reviewer. I highly recommend citing this report (or something similar) in your documentation. Please let us know the results.
