NC-v4 WEp1:Outdoor water use reduction

Tree Nursery in Site Design

Hello All,

Does anyone have insight into how a tree nursery might factor into the outdoor water use reduction credit? It will be irrigated, however the goal is to transplant trees from the nursery and continue growing new trees for the lifespan of the project. One could guess this may follow the same exemption as food growing, but I haven't seen anything to support this theory. Any insights greatly appreciated!

I would consider water use for tree nursery to be a 'process water' use and thus allowed to be excluded from outdoor water use reduction calculations.  I have similar situations with my factory projects. Before/after employees enter/leave the factory area it is mandatory to wash their hands. The lav faucet flow rate is regulated by code and addressed by the Indoor Water Use Reduction prereq/credit. However since this handwashing is not associated with restroom use it can be excluded (or included) with the water calcs at the team's discretion. - per direction provided by GBCI.
