NC-2009 PIf3:Occupant and Usage Data

Transients Again

I see many questions and answers on FTE's and visitors/transient, but none that quite makes it clear to me. So first, is the mail carrier who comes in once a day for oh 30 sec. = 1 transient, if we have meeting with half a dozen visitors about once every two months = 6/43ish transients? What about an occasional sales rep who stops in to say hi for 15 minutes once a month? If one had to add up to 8hr every work day I'd get it but if not - I'm just not getting what a transient is?

okay, I'll reply to myself. I found the linked article very helpful: http://succeedatleed.com/2009/12/make-calculating-ftes-less-confusing/ If Leeduser is insulted by a link to another site you can delete this post.

Chris, This info in the link is pretty much the same as what is published in the Reference Guide. Check out Appendix 1 in the 2009 BD&C RG for some help in making assumptions about transients. A caveat - I usually use 10% of FTE for transients in office space. Ultimately, you just need to use reasonable and well justified figures here. I've never had anything related to occupancy flagged in review.
