CI-v4 LTc2:Surrounding density and diverse uses

Tools accepted to calculate surrounding density

Hello all,

I've notived that surrounding density study was usually carried out using GIS software such as QGIS and databases like OpenStreetMap.

Are there any restrictions from LEED regarding the use of Google Maps or Google Earth as analytical tools instead of other GIS platforms ? Has this approach already been accepted by LEED reviewers? Thank you

I don't believe there are any restrictions. We have documented this, at times, simply using an image from Google Maps and then overlaying density details in bluebeam that we gleaned from spinning google maps/Earth. It does not need to be an overly extensive or complicated approach using GIS software. As long as the approach is explained and fact based you should be good.
