Hello everyone,
We're currently working on a factory project that includes both assembly and storage areas. Our primary concern relates to determining whether these areas qualify as regularly occupied spaces within the context of LEED certification.
Additionally, for thermal comfort, we've implemented air conditioning throughout all spaces. However, we've come across an extract suggesting the inclusion of additional strategies for areas like bulk storage, sorting, and distribution. Here's an excerpt from the extract:
"In regularly occupied areas of the building’s bulk storage, sorting, and distribution areas, include one or more of the following design alternatives:
- Radiant flooring;
- Circulating fans;
- Passive systems, such as nighttime air, heat venting, or wind flow;
- Localized active cooling (refrigerant or evaporative-based systems) or heating systems; and
- Localized, hard-wired fans that provide air movement for occupants’ comfort.
- Other equivalent thermal comfort strategy"
Given this guidance, we're curious about the necessity of incorporating these additional strategies, especially considering the existing air conditioning setup. Could anyone shed some light on whether these strategies are mandatory for LEED certification, or if there's flexibility in their implementation?
Looking forward to your insights and experiences.
