One client, a manufacturing company, is asking if there's a specific LEED guideline for data centers. Their customers are asking that their data centers to be LEED compliant. My understanding is that this would fall under general LEED NC or CI depending on if the space is the whole building or just a build-out. Please let me know if there is in fact a different rating category under which data centers would be certified. Thank you.

Joann,
Data Center-specific rating systems will be present in LEED v4, but they are currently not a part of the LEED rating system. Your assumption is correct - if a new data center is being constructed or the fit-out includes a major renovation, then the data center would be considered NC. If you were doing a simple renovation or fit-out of a space within a building, then the data center would apply under CI. Hope this helps!
