I am documenting a hotel project. One issue is not obvious for me, so maybe someone can help.
On hotel’s underground level is located a theatre/ music/ event room. Designers with Investor decided to placed this kind of area on level -2 because of special lighting conditions (stage lighting). The room will be used to events such as: jazz concerts, comedy stand-ups, fashion shows, theater performance etc.
Is this something arguable case so we can exclude the space, minimize our denominator in the calculations and maximize our chances to get a better ratio overall just accounting for daylight in the upper levels designed to be exposed to the exterior environment?

The regularly occupied space matrix date April 2015 states that auditoriums must be included for daylighting, but, it only notes that the concession area of both theatre and movie houses must be included. Since you have noted it as a theatre and not an auditorum, i would say it can be excluded. Ensure you submit a narrative explaining its use and requirements for specific lighting scenarios.
