We are working on CS project, a shopping mall, 57% is major renovation while the other 43% is expansion. The whole building is candidate for LEED certification and will be served by the same HVAC system so I included all area in the energy model. For the tenant spaces in the existing that is for renovation, should I model the HVAC system as designed? My guts tell me to do so because HVAC system is the same, but I need a proof to show to the design team that says that. Do you guys know some narrative or LEED rule that could support my energy model approach? Another question is, if the mall common area is mechanically ventilated but not conditioned, should I make it conditioned in the baseline model? I hope to hear from you soon. Thanks.
