EBOM-2009 EAc6:Emissions Reduction Reporting

Technical Advice

Hi, we used ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager to estimate the CO2 emissions of a project. The review team is requesting we should "Estimate the relative contribution of each listed action relating to energy efficiency, renewable energy, and other building energy emissions reductions measures to the greenhouse gas emissions reductions in terms of MtCO2e". The measures we stated were AHU coil cleaning and use of district heating and green electricity. How do you estimate the contribution of these measures to the CO2 emissions reductions?

Hi Eleftherios, you'll need to figure out how much energy is saved by each measure (it doesn't have to be exact) and then multiply that amount by the appropriate emissions factor. EPA has a handy website for this: https://www.epa.gov/energy/greenhouse-gas-equivalencies-calculator.
