It appears that typical under cabinet task lighting with just an on/off switch (no midlevel) will no longer satisfy this credit. Am I reading this correctly?

Hi Katie,
You are correct, only lighting with at least three levels (on, off, and mid-level) are considered compliant for this credit. Note that mid-level lights must be within 30%-70% of the maximum illumination levels.
Hope this helps!

Katie -
Standard task lighting would work. 3 levels of light include the general ambient lighting systems as well. Overhead lighting would provide on and off (2 levels) and introducing a task light gives the third level. The intent is to promote the use of task lighting to give occupants some level of control over their lighting. Giving them a task light gives them that control without an individual controlling all the lights in the space and affecting other people.
