System 9 - Baseline

Greetings, The question is related to modeling rooms/zones which are to be assigned to System 9. In the Proposed, these rooms/zones are having supply, return and sometime room exhaust ventilation. When however a System 9 is to be modeled, the App. G mention the fan power related only to the supply air flow. What should be used for Return/Exhaust fan power for System 9. Your advice will be highly appreciated. Thanks

The baseline fan power allowance includes all of the system fans. You can allocate the kW a number of different ways depending on the systems.

Hi Marcus, Thanks for the reply. The fan power for System 9 is clear - CFM x 0.3 - over. How about fan power adjustment for this system? In the Proposed there are filters and sound attenuators. How to add their static to the System 9's fan power. Without this the comparison is favorable for the Baseline and it shouldn't be so. Your opinion and advice are highly appreciated. Thanks.

There are no pressure drop adjustments for System 9 or 10. These systems only apply to certain space types such as storage rooms, stairwells, vestibules, electrical/mechanical rooms, and restrooms not exhausting or transferring air from mechanically cooled thermal zones in the proposed design. You cannot use these systems except for those space types. LEED allows them to apply to warehouses which I guess is just a large storage room.

Hi Marcus, Thanks for the reply. Practically, for system 9 what value for Static pressure is to be entered in the modeling software. Thanks.

Appendix G does not indicate a static pressure setting so it should be identical to the Proposed.
