Off-street parking provided is less than minimum required spaces for EV-ready.

Our project only has 5 parking spaces (all off street), and these are for employees only (FTE = 6), including one HC space.

The client would prefer to follow the "EV-Ready Infrstructure" pathway, but the minimum required spaces is 6.

Has anyone else had this situation? Even if they provide for 5 spaces, it seems excessive to require 100% of the spaces to be EV-ready.

We will run by USGBC as well -- just looking for some quick, preliminary feedback.

I would be interested in the outcome of this. We have a project that only has 4 off street spaces, so I was wondering the same thing. I don't have an answer other than (when the project gets to that point) we will probably submit with the 4 spaces as EV ready and make a case that we met the intent and far exceeded the % calculation. If others have more knowledge of how to navigate this, though, I'm all ears.

it is my understanding that projects with less then the minimum number of parking spots are able to achieve this credit. similar to projects that are off the grid can achieve the Grid Harmonization credit. the thinking is "we should not have to do bad to get credit for good". regarding 'how active is this forum?'....in the past 18 hours this is the most active LEEDuser forum :) Good Luck!

Hi Thomas - I ended up submitting a project-specific inquiry/proposal to GBCI for pre-approval. We proposed that 2 of the 5 spaces be EV-ready (being 40% of available spaces, which is far more than the credit required) and they agreed that was acceptable. I recommend reaching out to them if you have a similar situation.
