NC-2009 SSc4.2:Alternative Transportation—Bicycle Storage and Changing Rooms

I am working on an expansion to an existing building that will be using existing plumbing fixtures to satisfy requirementst. We received the following comment in response to our submittal for WEc3: 3. As noted in LEED-NC Addenda May 9, 2011, to earn points under WEc3: Water Use Reduction, all fixtures necessary to meet the needs of the addition occupants must be included, even if they are located within the existing building. It appears that the showers outlined in SSc4.2: Alternative Transportation - Bicycle Storage and Changing Rooms should be included in the calculations for WEc3 as well as kitchen sink uses. Most of it seems straight-forward except for the comment about kitchen sink uses. In reading the SSc4.2 credit I didn't find any requirements to provide kitchen sinks. Any insight you can provide is appreciated.

Will your FTEs in the Expansion have access to a kitchenette type thing to get coffee, wash their mugs, wash lunch dishes, etc.? If so, the kitchen sink they have access to needs to be included in the WEc3 calculations. Is there such a kitchenette / convenience kitchen space in the existing building?

Thank you for your response. Yes, they will have access to a kitchenette/break room sink in the existing building. Based on your response and other information found I will include it in the calculation form. Thanks again.
